What is A Gratitude Drive-Thru Adventure?
A Gratitude Drive-Thru Adventure is a family fun driving experience where you can spend time together enjoying giant themed inflatables and learn about feelings of gratitude and thankfulness, from the eyes of different businesses and organizations just before Thanksgiving. Participants can scan a QR code at each inflatable to see special sponsorship messages. At the end of the route, participants will have the opportunity to donate canned food or other items to our local food bank, Foothill Unity Center. To capture this fun experience, participants can drive through a green screen photo-op. This event is all about the kids having a little bit of fun and giving back to the community. During this time, our desire is to focus on giving, show appreciation to those who give, and give to others.
Children Pre-K through 5th grade are sure to love this event, but not matter your age, we’re sure this event will make you smile!
Where is the event located?
The event is located at the Santa Anita Race Track in the Gate 6 Parking Lot. Gate 6 is the patron entrance off Colorado Pl, which is the parking lot nearest to the infield entrance. Please note, the event is not taking place in the Infield, it is solely inside the Gate 6 Parking Lot grounds.
Is there a fee for this event?
There is an entrance fee of $5 per vehicle, however only $3 for Arcadia Unified School District students. Vehicles can drive through the event from the hours of 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 14th and Sunday, November 15th.
Cash only. Payment will be collected on-site.
Will there be social distancing and are masks required to participant in this event?
Yes. All participants who enter the event space, must wear a mask at all times. All attendees MUST stay in their vehicles. If your windows are down (Yes, even just 1 window), all occupants in the vehicle must have their masks on. Please ensure your mask covers your nose and mouth.

Do we drive through the event or do we park and walk around?

How fast do cars travel on the adventure route?
Vehicles are not allowed to exceed 5 MPH. Signs are posted at the event to remind drivers to remain at 5 MPH or lower. Most vehicles are moving at 2 MPH. Please keep a safe distance from the car in front of you and drivers should remain extra focused.
Will there be restrooms available for public use?
No, there will be no restrooms on site for public use. Due to COVID-19 rules, no one is allowed to exit their vehicles unless for emergency purposes. (Source: LA County Department of Public Health, Coronavirus, Car Parades, See Item #12)
Where do I dropped off my canned-food donation?
The last stop of the Gratitude Adventure will have a donation tent. Please hand off your item(s) to a volunteer who will have you drop your item into a container or pop your trunk open for a contactless drop-off.
Do I have to bring a canned-food donation to participate in the Gratitude Drive-Thru Adventure?
A donation is not required, but encouraged.
Foothill Unity Center, our local food bank in Monrovia, is in need of canned, packaged, or dried goods. No glass containers will be accepted.
Foothill Unity Center is also in need of items that can be used year round. You are encouraged to bring any of these items:
-canned/packaged tuna, chicken
-packaged rice, beans, grain items
-individual packed snacks such as nuts, dried fruit, trail mix , granola bars
-individual size toiletry items such as soap, shampoo, body lotion tooth paste, tooth brushes
-pop top items for our homeless lunches
Additional opportunities to give:
There is an All-AUSD Schools Canned Food Drive on Saturday, November 21st from 1:30 pm to 4:30pm at the Denny’s Parking Lot, located at 7 E. Huntington Drive in Arcadia. You are encouraged to also bring donations this day.
Now more than ever there are so many people in need of food and other necessities.
How long is the drive-thru experience?
A driving experience long enough to see 15 giant inflatables, some of them are 17 to 20 feet high!
How many people can be in my vehicle?
Participating vehicles cannot exceed their maximum occupancy. (Source: LA County Department of Public Health, Coronavirus, Car Parades, See Item #5)
What are the QR codes for?
There will be QR code signs next to each inflatable, scan the codes with your smartphone camera to learn which company/organization sponsored your fun viewing experience. The company/organization will also share a message with you about thankfulness and gratitude. Thanksgiving is just one week away! You can also learn some fun facts about animals.
Green Screen Photo-Op
At the end of the inflatable route, you may drive-thru the photo-op from the safety of your car. Drive up, stop momentarily in front of the green screen, and your photo will be taken. Your transformed photo will then be sent to your email address.

How did A Gratitude Drive-Thru Adventure come together?
The Highland Oaks PTSA wanted to plan a fun and safe event for the kids that centered around Thanksgiving.
